The Goons

The Goon Show ran on the BBC Radio from 1951 to 1960. It starred Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe, Spike Milligan, and for a short time, Michael Bentine. The comedy in the Goon Show has inspired comedians on both sides of the Atlantic. It is safe to say, that without the Goons, the comedy world would never have seen the likes of Monty Python.
Spike Milligan did the majority of the writing for the show. It was Milligan's brilliant creativity that brought such an unusual collection of characters and stories to the airwaves. His use of sound effects was, for lack of a better word, revolutionary.
